Wacky Wednesday
Our weather is pure craziness! Last week we were in the sunshine, warm temperatures and flip flops and now, we are back to snow boots, hats, mitts and heavy coats! This was the scene when we left for preschool this morning:

When we were doing errands today, this was the sky:

It looks like 2 evil eyes to me...
Arabella also went to the dentist today and she did OK, she freaked a little when they were polishing her teeth, but I think it was because she tried to touch the polisher with her tongue and she started crying. But looking at these pictures, you wouldn't know!

And for a little bit of sunshine, just ignore the disaster of a playroom around her...she was having fun!

Our Welcome Back To The Great White North
After some beautiful early spring weather, Arabella and I were greeted by huge wet snowflakes on Wednesday morning when we woke up!

It didn't last too long and Mother Nature had been kind to us ever since! The weather this weekend was warm and sunny...in the 60's today!

Mommy's Wellies
It has been warmer than normal here and so some of the snow we have has started to melt. I was getting sick of putting on my heavy, clunky snow boots that don't keep my feet warm (yes, a $200 pair of North Face boots that I bought 2 years ago, no longer do the trick) so I pulled out my Hunter Wellies. They were perfect for sloshing through the puddles and melting snow earlier this week, although I am not sure that they are going to work when we get the foot of snow they are forecasting for later today! I had left them out to dry and Arabella decided to try them out! She is such a Mimi-Me - Jay is in so much trouble!

Shades of Winter???
Once again, when I woke up this morning and looked outside, not much had changed. It was partly sunny and the snow patches on the grass and ice on the driveway looked more like March 4th (or in our case in Canada April or May 4th!) than January 4th.

It has been bitter cold out, almost too cold to go outside and then there is not too much to do since there isn't snow...but today I had had enough of being house bound. Arabella is still on school break this week and I needed some fresh air (hopefully it might help kick this cold I have). So after the 15 minute process of getting suited up to brave the cold, we finally made it outside. It was cold, the type of cold where the inside of your nose freezes, but we (or rather I) decided we were going to at least take a walk or play around on the ice rink that is our driveway!

We made it to the park and Arabella was excited to see that there were hockey players on the rink. We watched for a few minutes then she played on another little ice rink. She wanted to skate but I didn't bring her skates or hockey helmet...oops...I just really wanted to go for a walk. I think we may do that tomorrow morning. She did have fun playing or rather slipping around on the ice and then we played on the playground for a little bit before coming home for lunch.

At least we both got some fresh air and she is napping now. Trying to get her back on her schedule has been tough to say the least - I am scared for what next week will bring when she goes back to school! And now looking outside, I see little tiny snow flakes falling...I am keeping my fingers crossed that it adds up to more than a little dusting - it is January after all! But it also makes me think about what Mother Nature has hiding up her sleeve!

Leaf Fun
Yesterday, we took our family picture for our Christmas cards. It was a little chilly outside, but we made it through, I think that there is at least one good shot in the 100 or so that we took! Towards the end of out shoot, Arabella was getting silly as it was close to nap time and she was overtired. She decided to have some fun in the leaves. It was adorable! And, I know I have said it before, but I LOVE my (new) camera...there is no way I would have been able to grab these shots without it!

Autumn Sets In
We were lucky to have had a little taste of Indian Summer last weekend, but very quickly last week we were reminded that it was Autumn. The days started out chilly and never really warmed up and then I noticed that the sun is starting to set much earlier than I remember. The end of the week was rainy and cold and the weekend wasn't much different.

Arabella and Jay took a bike ride around the block and I went out to meet them.

As soon as she saw me, she jumped off her tricycle and told me that she needed a hat, mittens and scarf! So we went inside and found her new hat and mittens that I just bought for her and one of my scarves...she kind of looks like a "pink nightmare" with all the different shades of pink she had going on, but she was so excited to get back outside to play!

We had a fun time being silly while she was swinging! It may have been chilly outside, but that didn't stop the giggles!

Summer Scenes
We have the most beautiful hydrangea plants in our yard. I am amazed at how large the blooms are! I was out in the yard over the weekend and I captured these shots. I think I may go and cut some since they would make a beautiful arrangement on the dining room table.

We also had a serious thunderstorm one afternoon earlier this week. The clouds turned quite dark and the thunder rumbled for a long time before the sky opened. The storm was quick moving, but it was very loud and the clouds were ominous. I was surprised that Arabella slept through it since it hit right in the middle of nap time.

Allergy Season
I have seasonal allergies, but this year they have been worse than normal. So bad, that a few times I have woken up in the middle of the night with itchy eyes that needed eye drops! They have even been affecting Jay, which is a big deal since he was tested for allergies and the only thing he is allergic to are cats, rabbits and horses. His allergies were so bad one night that his eyes swelled shut and he had to make a trip to the clinic the next morning. I never actually believed that your allergies change, but after seeing Jay's reaction to them this year, I believe it. I that that by now allergy season would be over, but not so. Just check out the pollen or what ever all this white is in our garden (and everywhere)...

All this white just floats in the air and even got into the car, Arabella thougt it was a snow flake! It is ever present just like the yellow-green pollen that gets all over everything! Until it stops, which I hope is soon, I will be keeping eye drops and allergy pills on hand!

When The Rain Stopped
We have had rain for almost the past week. It has to stop sometime right?!?!? (I am keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather this weekend since it is Arabella's birthday.) When the rain stopped on evening, it was funny how quickly you heard a symphony of lawnmowers start, including ours. Jay cut the grass and Arabella followed behind pushing one of her ride-on toys from when she was younger. It was so cute to see her wanting to help.

When they were done, they had some fun playing on the creeper in the driveway. For some reason, she loves to be pushed on it! She just giggles and giggles, it is too sweet!

Playing In Puddles
During one of the rainy days at Dennis & Ricki's, I decided to see if Arabella wanted to go for a walk. There was only a very fine mist coming down, so it seemed like the perfect time to get some fresh air. Arabella put on her wellies and I borrowed a pair and off we went. It was so quiet and beautiful out. She loved exploring in the yard and I think she jumped in every puddle in the driveway. I loved being able to watch her and see her sense of wonder when she would find something that caught her attention. Thank you for taking a walk with me Arabella and for opening my eyes to all the beauty around us.
More Rainy Ohio
After Ashlee's wedding, we packed up and drove to Dennis & Ricki's house. The dreary weather made the drive seem longer than it was - it was nice to see the Ohio countryside again and Arabella loved seeing the horse farm near Grandpa Dennis' house.

As soon as we arrived, we warmed up by the roaring fire and Arabella made herself right at home. She loved exploring the house and playing with Blix (who also had fun playing) and Babe.

We enjoyed great food, including homemade croutons, and Arabella even had a few cooking lessons with Grandpa Dennis. She also checked out the tractor and enjoyed the fresh air, blooming trees and flowers and the garden!

We had a great time relaxing and spending time with Grandpa Dennis and Grammy Ricki that before we knew it, it was time to pack up and head back to the airport for the next part of our journey. As much as we hated to say goodbye, we were ready to leave rainy Ohio behind!
