Sights of Savannah

We made a family weekend trip out of Arabella's cheer competition in Savannah. We left around lunch on Friday so that Arabella wouldn't miss a full day of school but so that we could get there and be able to explore a bit on Friday night. It took about 4 hours to get there which wasn't too horrible. Max is getting better about being stuck in his car seat and it helped that we had movies and things for them to do. The weather was perfect and our hotel was great. We stayed at the Embassy Suite and our room was really nice. Arabella loves staying in hotels - she has been spoiled with all the traveling we have done with her since she was little - and I think Max is starting to follow in her footsteps.

Arabella and I went out to get dinner while Max and Jay relaxed in the hotel. We went to Spudnik - a restaurant the has only baked potatoes on the menu. It was so delicious!

After dinner, we walked around the city. There were tons of people around and it was so nice to enjoy the fresh air and explore. We came across some cute stores, candy shops, beautiful squares and landmarks. I would love to go back and explore more for a girls weekend. It would be the perfect quick getaway....I think I need to start planning one...

This is what I love about the South. The history and beauty. I love to explore places like this.

Saturday morning was very foggy. This reminded me of the movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil." Kind of mysterious.

Saturday afternoon, after the competition, was time to relax and enjoy the hotel pool. It was a bit chilly, but Max and Arabella had to go in. I enjoyed the fire pit, it was a bit warm, but was nice to hang out while they played. It is hard to believe that they were in an outdoor pool in December!

We explored a bit more before and after dinner at Paula Deen's restaurant. I love this wall of ivy.

And we ran into the Christmas Light Parade. It was fun to watch all the floats and cars go by. They were all lit up with lights. The kids loved it and some of the entries were crazy.

Before we knew it, Sunday morning arrived and it was time to pack up and drop Jay off at the airport in Savannah. We had a great time and didn't want to leave but know that there is so much more that we have to look forward to this month!

Snowflake Classic Cheer Competition - Savannah, Georgia

The 1st cheer competition of the season was this past weekend in Savannah, Georgia. The girls were so excited for the Snowflake Classic and did a great job! It was fun to see them finally be able to perform and get the jitters out. They came in 3rd place, which is a great start to the season. But the main thing was for the girls to have fun and work as a team and they did! Way to go Team Zing!
